Good Cat of the Day, in Perpetuity

Or: A tribute to Celia.

Celia is the good cat. She demands very little. She is not an attention hoor. She sits back and waits for the other freaknuts to get what they want, and then she timidly appears.

She's got a beautiful silky coat with white boots and a white stomach, that she loves having rubbed.

She is also known as Henrietta Pussycat because of the way she talks--she says "meow, meow, meow, meow, meow", "telephone", and "beautiful"(!) or Beano, because she likes to eat beans, peas, or any other sort of legume and now Ernest (more on him next time) has picked up on this and comes running, too. Kidney beans are a particular favorite.

We used to hold a Good Cat of the Day competition but Celia was the only one winning it so we quit issuing prizes and cancelled the competition. She is Kenneth's littermate, and a funny little thing. We try to give her as much love as we can because we're worried that she often feels left out. Sometimes though I sing "Cecilia" to her and I think that makes her happy.

She wants for so little, though her one weird attention quirk, besides the beans of course, is that she likes to "piggy". You know when cats are weaned too young and they pad on you? (Particularly the nice, soft, fleshy parts of you?) This is what Celia does. But she doesn't do it like a normal cat.

Oddly, she waits for the green blanket to come out--and since it's on the bed most of the time, well, that can be a problem--and then she goes nuts. She is like a beast possessed, padding as if she were a pig digging for truffles. She makes little snorty noises and drools while she does it, too. Charming. Recently she's been ambushing me in the middle of the night, but she doesn't do this to Nigel, who sleeps (blissfully unaware) through the whole thing.

Lately, she's also taken to napping on or near the toilet brush. There is no good reason for this (that mere humans can discern), except that the bathroom is the hottest room of the house and for some reason, she tends to go to the hottest room most of the time. She also adores closets.

I'd post more pictures, but because she doesn't do all the dumb things the others do, we don't have as many pictures of Celia. I do have a nice one to post, but stupid Blogspot is acting up again and I can't post it. Sorry, Celia.

Yay! Kitty posts.

I love that you were holding good cat of the day contests! And I would totally be a cat in your house.
