Well, Hello There (for A.)
My, but it's been a long, long time.
Life is pretty crazy. I'm still not entirely used to a set schedule and routinely long hours. It's exhausting both mentally and physically when you're out of the habit. Yeah, I know the rest of the world does it--I'd gotten extremely spoiled with so much flexibility in my last job. While the hours could be long, when they happened was down to me, mostly.
Alas, I think the new job is going well. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride, with the lows very low but the highs very high. One day I think "I can't do this. Get me out of here" and the next, "Hey, this is great." I'm having more and more days that fall in between (but closer to the "Hey, this is great" part) so I'm taking that as an encouraging sign.
I was hoping to use this blog to talk through a lot of the topics we work with at my new company but everyone (myself included) as loads of Google Alerts set, so the last thing I need is one of my colleagues seeing me blather on about work-related topics, or worse yet, company-related topics. And I'm not keen about seeing my own blog turn up in my inbox somehow.
So, life is good overall but a lot of work. The weekends fly by in a blink of an eye, but yesterday I got a lot of gardening in and that always makes me happy. The herb garden is overgrown to the point where the sage is actually blooming, but I got it mostly under control yesterday. We've had so much rain that everything is bright green and in bloom. It's gorgeous, and I stop to take it all in every morning as I leave the house.
The honey bees are plentiful and that makes me happy--I only hope they can find their way back to their hives. Nigel planted an onion yesterday and next weekend we've decided to go buy more vegetables for the backyard. Neither of us has time to maintain a full vegetable garden, but having a few treats back there will make the summer so much nicer.
I hope to get back here more. Perhaps as the summer progresses, I can. Don't give up on me yet, dear reader. Gobstruck's not dead yet.

I've missed you. Welcome back!
Thanks, Jane! I've missed you, too. Even more neglected than my blog writing is my blog reading.
I could feel guilty that it took me week to find that gobstruck had been updated but, nah.
Kay-Missed you, honey! (Lesley)
