Run! It's a Big, Blue Bear!
Are we on Lost island?Nope, it's just Denver's bear. Denver has loads of public art--much of it, like the bear, controversial. Some say the bear (the sculpture is actually called "I See What You Mean") isn't art at all, but we love it. Art is in the eye of the beholder, no? Well, unless it's crap, I mean, and this bear clearly isn't crap. He is whimsical and wonderful.
He's big and he's blue and he lives at the Colorado Convention Center. The bear is 40 feet tall, and looks in to the mezzanine. He was created by Lawrence Argent, a Denver-based artist with several public art projects in the area.
On that note, I won't be around much for the next few weeks, but Nigel has promised to help out with some fun stuff for you all. Enjoy!

Yeah, but he's a peeping tom. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
That is so cool!
He's a big, blue peeping Tom!
We have some really super cool things in our little cowtown, Jane. Sometimes I'm surprised.
I freaking love that bear. Thanks for the picture of him.

The first time I saw him, I practically wrecked the car. Everyone was all, "Have you seen the bear? Have you seen the bear?" and we were driving past the convention center. I was worried we'd miss the bear, and then BAM! there he was.
I think his name is Danny but he's never told me that. It's just a guess--he looks like a Danny to me.
I wish we had a bear!
Oh sure, I finally get time to catch up on my blog reading and you are leaving. Hope you will be having some fun along the way.
Chocolate kisses,
KP
My favorite is the one you posted back in early October outside Temple Buell. They make me smile every time. Actually, I take that back- my all time favorite is the "french fry" sculpture at 1-25 near Santa Fe. Makes me hungry every time I see it.
Gotta love Denver.
